Surfshark built its reputation on one policy — unlimited simultaneous connections — and then quietly became fast enough to compete with providers charging twice as much. It is the provider most reviewers name when someone asks for the best value in the category.
The picture from independent testing is consistently positive: strong speeds, reliable streaming across 16+ Netflix libraries, an audited no-logs policy, and a Trustpilot score of 4.3 from more than 28,000 reviews with support quality specifically praised.

Unlimited devices, genuinely
No device cap on any plan. Reviewers who stress-tested it report no throttling as connections stack up, which is not true of every provider making the same claim. For a household this is the single biggest cost saving in the category.
Fast for the money
Independent tests recorded speeds up to 752 Mbps on nearby servers with average speed loss around 21%. Some locations barely affected download speed at all, and one test server actually improved on the unprotected baseline.
Streaming coverage is broad
Reviewers report flawless unblocking across 16+ Netflix libraries plus BBC iPlayer, Disney+, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video.
Support gets called out by name
Trustpilot reviewers repeatedly describe the support team as friendly, helpful and quick — unusual in a category where support is normally the complaint.
What people say is bad
Questions over IP logging
Some reviewers note Surfshark may record IP addresses, which sits awkwardly against a strict no-logs claim. The policy has been independently audited, but this is the most substantive privacy criticism raised and worth reading the current policy on directly.
Occasional connectivity hiccups
A recurring theme in user reviews: apps that occasionally fail to connect or need a restart. Not universal, but it comes up often enough to note.
Support response times, sometimes
Despite mostly glowing feedback, a visible minority of reviews report slow replies — the experience appears inconsistent rather than uniformly good or bad.

Surfshark was the third-fastest provider in our cycle at 874 Mbps nearby, and it held that position across every distance band. For a provider at $2.19/month sitting within 3% of NordVPN, that is the strongest price-to-performance ratio in the top ten.
